Do I have to book?
No, you can just turn up on the day, however, it is better to book so that you can be sent a day planner which will help you make the most of your day. You can use our interactive day planner online to create a personalised itinerary for the day. Once you've selected the activities you want to do just print it out and bring it with you. If you are bringing a group, you are required to book with us. Please contact our Enquiry Centre on 08459 45 46 47 to make a group booking.

Will there be guaranteed parking?
We set aside our main car park for the duration of the day for visitors and it's FREE so parking is not a problem and you’re only a couple of minutes walk from the registration area in the Campus Centre.

Will there be refreshments?
Yes, complimentary refreshments will be provided on arrival. There are also several catering outlets in the campus centre where you can purchase hot and cold food and drinks.

What time does it start? What time does it finish? Do I have to stay for the whole day?
The event runs from 9am until 3pm. You are welcome to drop in for part of the day or just come to the areas you are interested in at the designated time. Presentations and activities are repeated throughout the day so you should be able to see most things and the day planner will help you plan the sessions you want to attend and get the most out of your day.

Can I book a campus tour at a particular time?
Take a self-guided tour of our campus at any time throughout the day. There is no need to pre-book your place, simply turn up at the Enquiry Centre to pick up your map and start the tour. There will be Student Ambassadors around campus to give more information along the way.

I can only come in the morning/afternoon – will I miss any events?
Presentations and activities are repeated throughout the day so you should be able to see most things. The day planner will help you plan the sessions you want to attend and get the most out of your day.

Can I bring my young children/parents/friends?
Yes, all are welcome. Children are able to attend the day as well as any family and friends. Please be advised however that for certain activities, young children will not be able to participate due to health and safety reasons.

If I come on the train/bus will there be a shuttle service to bring me to the campus?
Yes, a minibus will operate between Leicester train and bus stations and the Leicester City Campus. The first bus will leave at 8.45am and the last bus will leave the Campus at 3.30pm.

Will we be able to see the halls of residence?
A selection of our accommodation will be open for you to visit throughout the day with a member of staff on hand to answer any questions. Alternatively, you can go straight to the accommodation stand located in the Student Services zone for more information.

My son/daughter is disabled – will we be able to talk about facilities for disabled students?
Yes, but please contact us in advance and we will arrange a visit that is appropriate to your needs.

Will we be able to talk to students on the open day?
Yes, existing DMU students will be available to give advice and the student view of life at DMU.

Will there be advice about course choice?
Yes, our academic staff will be able to discuss their subject area. You can also attend one of our talks on applying to university, student life, and finances and put your questions to our Student Advice panel. We will also have a representative from UCAS on Campus to answer your questions about the application process.

Can I talk to anyone about studying a DMU course through an Associate College?
There won't be a specific stand for our Associate College courses but there will be staff available within the Faculties who will be able to advise you on these courses. Alternatively, you can find further information on our Associate College web pages.

Will there be advice about fees/finance/funding/scholarships?
Yes, our Student Adviser and Student Services teams can help with any financial questions you may have about Higher Education. We also have 'Student Life & Managing your Money' talks at 11am and 1pm in the Campus Centre, Level 2, 2.01. 

Will we be able to talk to admissions tutors about my son’s/daughter’s chances of obtaining a place?
Tutors will be on hand to discuss entry requirements for each course and provide advice on how your son/daughter can join us at DMU. They will not, however, be able to discuss specific applications with anyone other than the candidate due to confidentiality.

I’m interested in nursing – I believe that’s at a different campus – will I be able to visit there as well?
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences will be running a bus to the Charles Frears Campus from the City Campus at 10.30am and 12.30pm giving visitors interested in nursing an opportunity to view the facilities and take in a presentation from the nursing team. As well as this, Nursing and Midwifery staff will be available all day at the City Campus to answer any questions you may have.

We’re travelling from some distance – would there be any accommodation available/recommended/discounted?
Our Enquiry Centre team can advise on local B&B and hotels which are offering special discounts for  Open Day visitors. You can also visit the Leicestershire Promotions website for more information about the city and places to stay.

How far are you from the Bus/Train Station?
The DMU campuses are close to local bus and train stations. We will provide a minibus between Leicester train and bus stations and the City Campus.The access maps give you detailed information. What else is there to do?
Your day planner will give you details of all the activities available on the day. As well as academic information, there will be talks about student life, how to apply to university and various workshops across the Campus. Why not take a tour of Leicester on our city tours, learn about Leicester's new developments and the exciting times ahead.

How long should I allocate to spend at the Open Day ?
That’s really up to you and what information you would like from the day. If you would like to see a number of departments, you will need to allocate most of the day, but sessions are duplicated so that they will be available in the mornings and afternoons.

I’m interested in postgraduate/part-time study, will there be someone there for me to talk to?
Yes, academic staff from most areas will be available to discuss all modes of study.

Do you have a crèche?
The City Campus does not offer childcare facilities, however the event is a real day out, so children of all ages are welcome to attend.
