The United Nations has designated June 19th each year as Sickle Cell Day. As part of this global initiative on sickle cell, De Montfort University has been working with experts on to research the experiences of young people with sickle cell in education.

DMU has been working with a number of other experts across the country to carry out pioneering research into sickle cell and the issues faced by school children affected by the disorder.
