C. Research governance and organisation
This area of staff development includes sessions, courses and information to assist staff in gaining the knowledge of standards, requirements and professional conduct that are needed for the effective management of research. It can be broken down into 3 subsections:
- Professional conduct
- Research Management
- Finances, funding and resources
Training and development opportunities within this area are a primary focus for the RBI and our portfolio includes sessions and courses on:
- Introduction to Research at DMU
- Research Professional
- Research funding and applications including EU, RCUK, TSB
- Application writing sessions and drop-ins
- Knowledge transfer funding including KTP and YSB
- Business and commercial skills
- Project management (with HR)
- Data Management
- Open Access
- Leadership and Management training
The RBI team includes a number of staff experienced in writing external applications, developing relationships with external organisations and taking forward commercial opportunities. As well as the training sessions one-to-one support is available in these areas. Relevant courses are also offered in faculty including faculty mentoring schemes|.
