This area of staff development includes sessions, courses and information relating to the knowledge and intellectual abilities needed by researchers to enable them to carry out excellent research. It can be broken down into 3 subsections:

DMU has training and development opportunities within this area to include sessions and courses on:

- Qualitative and Quantitative data analysis
- De Montfort Open Research Archive (DMU’s outputs repository)
- Data Management – introduction, qualitative data management and ethics and copyright

- Impact of your Research
- The Essentials of Evaluation
A number of relevant courses are also offered by the Library|, IT and Media Services| and People & Organisational Development (POD) Training Unit|. The Academic Professional Development Unit| also run courses aimed at Research Supervisors.
