Research Degrees: MPhil and PhD

If you’ve got big questions, an inquiring mind and have always wanted to develop your own independent study, a higher research degree at MPhil or PhD can provide you with the opportunity to investigate a topic in depth.

When you undertake your research degree in the Youth and Community Division, you become a member of a thriving research community committed to better understanding young people and communities, their needs, issues and the services that seek to respond to them. You will be supervised by a subject-specialist team and will have access to dedicated resources to support your studies.

The team welcome proposals on any topic related to applied social sciences, and we have particular specialist expertise in the following areas:

  • Youth Work theory, policy, management and practice
  • Globalisation and global youth work
  • Active citizenship and participation
  • Social identity and transitions
  • Criminal and youth justice

To start your journey towards contributing to the theory, policy and practice of youth and community work, get in touch now.

You can contact Scott Yates for a discussion about your ideas.
