The Centre for Accounting and Finance Education Research Group

The Accounting and Finance research group was established in 2016 to encourage the successful teaching staff within the Accounting and Finance department to formalise the work being undertaken in relation to teaching and learning into documented academic research.

The research group has been formed with the key objective of consolidating the current activity occurring within the department on a daily basis in relation to andragogy, pedagogy and learning and teaching strategies.

This group has been formed to encourage fruitful discussion on the benefit of changes to the teaching and learning methods used within the department and across the subjects and encourage continued interaction between the student population, accounting lecturing staff, research focused academics and that of financial and accounting professionals.

Given the immense complexity of the current higher education structure and its impact on job market participants and society alike, the research group aims to enhance understanding of such complexities via empirical research in the following broad areas:

  • Use of technology within teaching strategies
  • Use of simulation within professional teaching
  • Learning strategies and the impact on teaching strategies
  • Teaching developments
