Marta Ziętkiewicz-Szlendak


Marta Ziętkiewicz-Szlendak joined the Photographic History Research Centre as a Visiting Scholar for a five week research period. During her stay in February-March 2014, Marta collaborated with Dr. Gil Pasternak (PHRC Senior Research Fellow) on a research project that explored the domestic photographic histories of Polish Jewry in the late and early twentieth-century.

Marta works as a Researcher for the externally funded project "Sources for the nineteenth-century history of Polish photography" at the National Library / Institute of Fine Art in Warsaw. She is also Lecturer in History of Photography at Warsaw School of Photography. Having obtained her Masters degree in History of Art from the University of Warsaw, Marta is currently completing her Ph.D. in the Institute of Fine Arts at the Polish Academy of Science (Warsaw), specialising in the history of nineteenth-century Polish photography. Her research interest focuses on the development of early photographic markets in Poland and the subsequent establishment of international networks of photographic knowledge exchange.
