Lea Anderson in Conversation.
Friday October 20th 5pm-6.30pm
Lea Anderson (Artistic Director of the Cholmondeleys); ‘Funmi Adewole, Professor Ramsay Burt (CIRID, DMU)
Choreographer Lea Anderson, Artistic Director of the Cholmondeleys, talks about her latest piece Ladies and Gentlemen which will be performed at DMU on Saturday 21st October at 7.00 pm. Inspired by fading music hall memories with a sprinkle of surrealism, Ladies and Gentlemen conjures the all but forgotten stage show of six has-been performers. In this open research talk, Lea Anderson talks about this piece and about her choreographic process with Ramsay Burt, who has followed and written about her work for over 30 years, and ‘Funmi Adewole, who formerly danced with the Cholmondeleys.
Performance and Philosophy Research Seminar
Thursday October 26th 5pm-6.30pm,
Campus Centre Dance Studio CC 2.13 / 14
Dr Louise Douse (University of Bedfordshire); Marie Hay, Dr Martin Leach (CIRID, DMU)
The seminar combines both performative (Marie) and discursive (Louise and Martin) explorations of the figure of the dancer as a paradigm of Martin Heidegger’s conception of human being as Dasein or ‘being-there’. Both performance and papers engage with philosophy in a grounded and down-to-earth manner using practical examples from life, teaching and performance. This seminar emerges from the work of the ‘Heidegger and Performance Working Group’. The working group is part of the international network: Performance Philosophy http://performancephilosophy.ning.com
