Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008
Submissions to the most recent Research Assessment Exercise were made in November 2007 and the results were announced in December 2008. Further information about the RAE’08 (methodology, full submissions and results) is available on the HEFCE web site|.
De Montfort University (DMU) made 19 submissions to the RAE and delivered the following results:

DMU is ranked fourth highest, alongside Cambridge University, for its English Literature research, with 40 per cent of the research rated four star

50 per cent of research within the creative disciplines achieved four star

70 per cent of The Earth and Planetary Remote Sensing Laboratory's research was ranked three star and four star

65 per cent of research at the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development was rated three star and four star
-
60 per cent of Film and Media research was rated three star and four star

Research Excellence Framework
The Research Excellence Framework is the proposed new system for assessing the quality of research in HEIs and will replace RAEs. The first assessment under the new framework will be in 2014. Further general information about the REF is available on the REF web site|.
