Postgraduate Research Students Association (PRSA)
The Postgraduate Research Students Association (PRSA) welcomes all research students at DMU and aims to help students enjoy their time here in Leicester.
We recognise that research can be quite isolating and so the PRSA is a group through which you can make new friends or can access support for personal or academic problems. As a DMU postgraduate research student, you are automatically a member and your membership fees are paid by DMU.
Meeting people
We have an active knowledge sharing and social calendar with regular local events as well as opportunities to visit major attractions outside Leicester at discount prices. We also have a Facebook page where you can chat with fellow PRSA members and see photographs of our visits.
All the events organised are advertised through the university mailing system with the subject title starting with PRSA, and through Facebook|.
Benefits of PRSA:
-
Regular organised social events both within and outside Leicester at discount prices.
-
Formal representation for research students across the University (we are affiliated to the DMU Students’ Union).
-
Helping international and part-time research students to integrate into University life.
-
Informal academic support and guidance especially from students who are further advanced in their research.
-
Informal knowledge sharing events on various topics that are of interest to students (you can also suggest a topic that you are interested in to be organised).
If you have a query, comment, suggestion or problem concerning your academic life, courses or any other aspect at DMU, you can contact us and we will direct you to a student representative who will be able to raise your question at The Higher Degree Committee meeting (this can also be done anonymously) or the corresponding people who are able to help.
