Our vision at the De Montfort University (DMU) Graduate School is one of developing the applied academics of the future. We are keen to welcome new students to our growing cohort of research students across the University, from Fashion and Design to Pharmaceuticals, through to Robotics and Cyber Security to Art and Architecture, and much more besides. We also offer a vibrant Practice-Based environment, whereby conceptualisation and active engagement are seen as both contributing towards the development of a chosen field.
At DMU, we are committed to research that can also benefit society, and our newly launched Research Strategy targets inter-disciplinary research in the areas of urban living, lifelong well-being, creativity in the digital age and social value.

Committed to recruiting and supporting talented doctoral researchers our Graduate School is delighted to announce applications are now open for the DMU Full Bursary and Fees Only Scholarships.
Prospective PhD researchers are invited to apply for:
- Full bursary scholarships (covers Home/EU fees and stipend of £14,296)
- Fees only scholarships for Home/EU applicants
- Fees only scholarships for International applicants

It provides access to key training opportunities and supports students to follow their vision and beyond to achieve their career ambitions.
All of our subject areas are eligible to apply for the DMU Full Bursary and Fees Only Scholarships schemes.
Each application should be jointly prepared by the student and the potential supervisor and should contain:
- Details of the student and his/her performance to date.
- Details of the proposed research project and how it maps onto DMU areas of research excellence;
- In particular how the proposed project relates to the Research Strategy inter-disciplinary themes of urban living, lifelong well-being, creativity in the digital age and social value.
- The proposed research project should also explain how it would endeavour to engage internationally with relevant ‘others’ in the field.
- A completed Fee Waiver/Full Bursary application form (completed by your potential supervisor), standard PhD application form and annexe form, academic transcript, copies of degree certificates, two references and the approved Faculty decision form (completed by your proposed supervisor).

Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership
The Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) is a collaboration between De Montfort University and the universities of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent, Leicester, Birmingham and Birmingham City.
This newly launched programme will provide you with combined research expertise for the personal and professional development of the next generation of arts and humanities doctoral researchers.
This programme is sponsored by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and will provide over 400 full-bursary scholarships across the 6 universities for both full-time and part-time students from UK or EU between 2014 and 2020.
