Graduate School Office
The Graduate School Office is part of the Directorate of Student and Academic Services and aims to support postgraduate research students and staff.
We offer efficient, student-centred administrative assistance and a comprehensive Researcher Development Programme that encourages research students to achieve their maximum research potential and develop transferable skills to complement their career beyond their time at university.
As you progress through the student journey, there are various ‘checkpoints’ along the way that chart academic progress of the research project. The Graduate School Office has launched an online progression management tool for research students and supervisors, called myResearch. myResearch allows research degree students to record and track their progress throughout the research degree programme from the point of enrolment through to submission of thesis. This means that students can log into the system and access status information concerning their progress through the research cycle, including key progression milestones that are due or have been completed. The traffic light system on the software provides a simple visual indicator of the milestones throughout the cycle. The Pathway also provides an ‘at a glance’ timeline image of the main compulsory milestones identified at enrolment. Forms that are required as part of a progression milestone for the research degree are completed online, enabling students to submit forms for supervisor review and comment. In addition, a student document store allows students to store and share documents with their supervisors.
In addition, the Code of Practice for Research Degree students has been developed to help research students navigate their way through the regulations and procedures from admission, registration and submission of thesis through to the viva voce examination.
The Graduate School Office team is here to guide you through all these processes right through to Graduation and ensure you stay on track!
