Emerging Technologies Research Centre

The Emerging Technologies Research Centre (EMTERC) was set up in 1995 to carry out fundamental and applied research in microelectronics with the aim to achieve a status of Centre of Excellence within the University, nationally and internationally through strong teamwork and active collaborations with major universities and multinational and/or UK based industries.

EMTERC carries out internationally leading fundamental and applied research and teaching at the forefront of microelectronics, the result being our staff and students learn and demonstrate skills of value to industry achieved through multidisciplinary team effort linking expertise in materials, devices, circuitry and reliability. Everyone is provided with opportunity through education, training, research and team work to realise their full potential within the microelectronics area. Active collaboration also takes place with academia and industry at international and national level for effective knowledge sharing and advancement.
