"I am much more independent and confident with myself thanks to DMU and the variety of placements on my course. I already feel I am making a difference within healthcare and to the patients and families I care for."

–Alina, Adult Nursing BSc (Hons)

Professionally accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), our courses prepare future health professionals to meet the high-quality care standards required to work in the nursing and midwifery professions.

You will be taught by expert healthcare professionals, benefiting from the experience and specialist knowledge they have developed in practice, and through our partnerships with healthcare providers, research centres and leading charities since the school was established more than 50 years ago.

Through innovative theory and practical teaching sessions you will discover that what you learn in books is just the start. Thanks to a recent £2million investment our students benefit from specialist clinical simulation facilities which include a midwifery suite complete with birthing pool, a moving and handling centre and mock hospital wards – helping students develop crucial clinical and care skills in a safe, practice environment.

Put the theory in to practice on integrated placements that make up a large portion of your learning. We have excellent links with NHS trusts and partners in Leicester, Leicestershire and neighbouring counties, providing you with a range of placement opportunities in hospital and community care settings, charity organisations and within private healthcare.

Where can studying a Nursing and Midwifery course take you?

To help support you in your studies, all eligible nursing, midwifery and many of the allied health professional students can receive additional funding of £5,000 a year, with a potential £3,000 extra for students with special circumstances. Learn more about NHS funding.
