Welcome to issue 34 of dmyouDMU’s library archive has a new home. It contains rare documents and books about the institution’s history as well as information about the local area. To mark the occasion, our cover story this issue is about the fascinating history of the area our campus is based in. Turn to pages 6 and 7 to find out more about the archive and about the historical figures that walked the paths around campus in years gone by. The city-wide debate on universities’ role in society proved a big success, with many students, staff and members of the public attending. Read more on page 3. Cultural Exchanges runs between 28 February and 4 March and a host of big names will appear this year, including: celebrated actress Honor Blackman; comic book icon Alan Moore; writer, comedienne and actress Meera Syal; and singer and leading music industry figure Feargal Sharkey.
