Entry requirements

Entry requirements for Hong Kong students
 Academic qualificationsEnglish Language
Foundation / International Year Zero

 

International Year Zero:

HKDSE with a minimum of 4 subjects (including Maths where required) at Level 2 or above, or

Form 4 and 5 with an average of 40 - 55% including Maths where required

International Year Zero: Minimum IELTS 4.5 with pre-sessional English

 

DMU foundation courses: IELTS 6.0

Undergraduate

Hong Kong A-levels (HKALE) and DSE accepted

 

International Baccalaureate (IB) – the average requirement is 24-28 points.

 

Higher Diplomas are generally regarded as equivalent to the BTEC Higher National Diploma. You may be able to enter directly onto the third year of certain courses.

 

Associate Degrees – you may be able to enter directly onto the second or third year of certain courses.

 

Some courses have additional entry criteria such as a portfolio, an audition, or require a student to have a particular qualification.

HKCEE English (syllabus B) Grade C

 

Hong Kong AS level in Use of English, Grade A-E

 

HKCE English Language, Level 3

 

Evidence that you have studied and been examined in English for two+ years

 

or

 

IELTS 6.0 for Art, Design and Technology subjects

 

IELTS 6.5 for Business, Pharmacy, Law, Social Sciences, Sciences and Humanities subjects

 

IELTS 7.5 for Speech and Language Therapy

Postgraduate

A good bachelor’s degree from a recognised university

 

Some courses have additional entry criteria such as a portfolio or work experience, may require you to have a degree in a related field, or may ask for a higher score in your degree

HKCEE English (syllabus B) Grade C

 

Hong Kong AS level in Use of English, Grade A-E

 

HKCE English Language, Level 3

 

Evidence that you have studied and been examined in English for two+ years

IELTS 6.0 for Art, Design and Technology subjects
