Step 1: completing your application form
You can either apply online| or complete the form that can be obtained from one our worldwide education agents or download an application form| which you can complete electronically.
Please ensure that you read the instructions carefully, complete all the sections and don’t forget to write your supporting statement - it is your best opportunity to sell yourself, detail your work experience, skills and knowledge, and show us how motivated you are.

Send your completed application form together with the supporting information outlined below to: iao@dmu.ac.uk|, hard copies can be sent to International Admissions Office, Portland Building, De Montfort University, The Gateway, Leicester LE1 9BH, UK.
Remember, if you have completed your application online, or by downloading an application form, you will need to send us the supporting information separately by mail. We cannot process your application without it.
We require the following supporting information:

Two references, preferably one recent academic reference and one work-related. Two academic references are acceptable if you do not yet have any work experience
-
Copies of your qualification certificates and/or transcripts – usually everything from the age of 15/16
-
Evidence of your English language ability (if English is not your first language), such as a copy of your IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge certificate.
-
Photocopy/scan of the photograph page of your passport
Step 3: processing your application
Our International Admissions Office will receive and log your application. We will then make a decision based on all the information you have given us and will either:
-
Make you an unconditional offer of a place on your chosen course if you meet all the necessary entry criteria – the place will be held until you tell us whether or not you wish to accept our offer.
-
Make you a conditional offer of a place – this means we will hold a place for you, but you still have to meet some of the entry criteria, such as achieving an IELTS score of 6.5 or passing your current course.
-
Offer you an alternative course if you do not qualify for the one you originally applied for but do have the necessary qualifications for a different one
-
Ask you for further information – we will not be able to make a decision if there is insufficient or incomplete information in your application. You should try to get this information to us as soon as you can.
-
Reject your application – we will always offer an alternative if we can but some applicants simply do not yet qualify for our courses or require further study to enhance their qualifications or English language skills
We try to process all applications within two weeks and issue a letter to you as soon as possible; however, please bear in mind that postal services vary and some letters will take longer to reach certain parts of the world.
Where possible, we will send an email or text message to acknowledge your application and we will send letters to you by courier for speed and security. If you do not hear from us after four weeks of submitting your application, please contact us as your letter may have gone missing in the post.
Step 4: after you have been made an offer
If your application is successful, you will need to submit further forms to choose your accommodation and pay a deposit. But don’t worry, to make the process as easy and smooth as possible, we have produced a checklist. And of course, if you have any queries at any stage, we are always here to help.
