To make sure you're ready for life in the UK, there are a few preparations you will need to make before you arrive. Just follow our guide below and you'll get here with all the essentials in place.
Visas
Arranging your visa as soon as possible is vital – you won't be able to come to the UK to start your studies without it. You can get all the information you need on our visa page|.
Healthcare
Make sure you look into what healthcare options will be available to you while you are in the UK. DMU has its own health centre for students on campus and other facilities| to keep you healthy and happy.
Accommodation
It's important that you arrange your accommodation before you arrive in the UK, so take a look at our accommodation| pages, which have details of how to secure a place to live in Leicester.
Pre-departure briefings
These are hosted by the British Council| and our representatives in your country. They will help you to prepare for your arrival in the UK and are extremely useful. The briefings will provide you with plenty of advice and guidance to make your move to the UK as easy and stress free as possible. They normally take place from June onwards and you should contact the British Council or the representatives to book your place.

UK airport pick up service (Heathrow only)
If you're flying to the UK and arriving at Heathrow Airport, DMU makes your arrival much easier by offering a FREE airport pick up service. A coach is provided for your transfer to Leicester and it will bring you directly to campus. You must ensure that you pre-book your place online, as DMU cannot guarantee availability on the coaches without confirmed bookings.
