Our staff are committed to providing the best possible teaching and support for our students, as demonstrated by the National Student Survey 2009.

The Faculty has strong links with industry. Several of our courses have links with major employers, such as the BBC and Orange. Our professional focus is exemplified by the placement opportunities that are available on all our undergraduate BSc and BEng courses and all our postgraduate MSc courses.

Through the professional focus of our courses, the graduate employment rate from this Faculty is among the best in the sector. Our graduates gain employment in a wide variety of roles, such as systems architects, analyst programmers, games developers, multimedia software designers, sound engineers, project managers and design engineers.

The Faculty is committed to achieving research excellence across a diverse range of topics. Our research strengths keep our teaching up to date and give students an opportunity to participate in leading-edge developments through their project work. The high quality of our research has been recognised in the recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008), where 45% of our research was graded either “internationally excellent” or “world leading”. According to the Essential Science Indicator®, which forms part of the renowned citation database ‘ISI Web of Knowledge’, three of the Faculty’s research papers are in the top 1% of most cited papers.

The facilities in the Faculty are superb and warrant a visit at one of our open days. They include a range of engineering laboratories, workshops, studios, and specialist computing laboratories equipped with the latest software environments. Our Creative Technology Studios are a new multi-million pound addition to the Faculty. Backed by a team of academic specialists, the facility gives students the opportunity to use industry-leading video, audio and radio production suites.

Whether you are interested in the Faculty of Technology from the perspective of a potential student, partner, or employee, I am confident that you will be impressed with what you find here.
