Parenting Positively Home image

Parenting Positively is a high quality, evidence-based training programme that supports the development of better parenting skills. The practical and highly interactive six day programme derives directly from a rigorous British research study undertaken by De Montfort University.

Parenting Positively has been specifically designed to enable practitioners to support parents of children from 8 months to approximately 8 years old. It achieves this by enabling practitioners to better understand and better manage their children's behaviour and support their family clients in their work to develop effective and positive parenting skills and outcomes.

The Parenting Positively programme is based on developing understanding of social learning / humanistic cognitive behavioural theories the development of positive parenting skills using these principles. Parenting Positively has been shown to be particularly effective in situations where the children are showing signs of:

  • Aggression
  • Being disruptive
  • Emotional or sleeping difficulties

Feedback from participants and service managers about Parenting Positively is extremely positive and we have a track record of commissioners requesting that we run further courses to deliver the programme to new practitioners.
