  • Course grants - to help with study costs such as books, materials and travel. The maximum amount you can receive is £288 (you do not pay this back)
  • Fee grants - to help with tuition fees, the maximum grant you can receive is based on how intensive your course is, eg how long it takes to complete compared to the equivalent full-time course (you do not pay this back)

For the most intensive courses, the maximum available through the Student Finance England Course Grant and Fee Grant combined is £1,609. Payments are made once a year. If you're getting certain benefits, you'll qualify for the maximum automatically. Otherwise, how much you can get depends on your personal circumstances and household income.
