Student Finance and Welfare
As a student parent, you may be entitled to apply for additional funding to help towards certain costs. To ensure you apply for all the relevant funding contact Student Finance and Welfare.

Student Finance England and the NHS offer a number of grants for students who have children and adults who are financially dependant on them.
Student Finance England
- Childcare Grant (external link) - available to full time students who have at least one dependent child under 15 at the beginning of the academic year who is in registered or approved childcare.
- Parent's Learning Allowance (external link) - available to full time students with dependent children, which can help with extra costs associated with being a parent.
- Adult Dependants' Grant (external link) - available to full time students with a partner or other adult who depends you financially.

Further Education Support Fund
The FE Support Fund is a government fund that you can apply to through the university once you have enrolled. It might help with accommodation and travel costs, as well as course materials and childcare.
Only students enrolled on a Further Education course at DMU can apply to this fund. At DMU, the only course this applies to is the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
At De Montfort University there is the opportunity to apply for additional funding from the VC Fund. VC Fund scholarships are awarded to any student who demonstrates potential, commitment and ambition in their approach to university and studies.
