How to get top marks… Referencing tips from DMU Library
Good referencing is key to a great piece of work. Inspiration is fine, but if you don't acknowledge your sources, then you could fall foul of plagiarism rules.
Referencing can be a minefield, but the good news is, there's loads of support available thanks to your DMU library.
Visit the library web page and consult your subject guide on the library webpage|, look at the referencing tab to find lots of help. For specific subject requirements please consult your course handbook.
You can email your subject librarian for referencing help. Find them on your subject guide on the library web page. You can also send an email enquiry to Just Ask|, the library’s virtual enquiry service.
If you just pop into the library you can ask at the first floor enquiry desk.
Keep an eye on the 'What’s on' calendar for details of forthcoming referencing workshops, make sure that you attend library-led referencing sessions when they are offered on your course and look out for the weekly Subject Librarian drop-in in your faculty. See your subject guide for details.
Extra tools and support
The library offers a fantastic tool to keep track of your references with 'Refworks', which is available on the library website | and you can also use the library's quick guide to referencing|.
