Improving your employability
We are committed to improving your employability so that once you graduate, you have the skills that employers are looking for. As such we have a number of initiatives that allow you to gain meaningful work experience while you're at DMU.
Frontrunners| is DMU's internal placement scheme. You can apply for posts within the university, helping departments and faculties with real tasks and projects, and working alongside current DMU employees.
While at DMU you can apply to become a Student Ambassador|. Help promote DMU sharing your experiences with prospective students, parents, teachers and careers advisers. From taking campus tours and helping at open days to giving presentations at schools and helping with applications, you will work on the full range of student recruitment at DMU.

Getting involved at DMU
You don't have to have a paying job to get involved with university life. There are a number of things you can do to improve your employability and add to your CV.
More than 1,500 students a year choose to give their time freely and help out the local community, either through the students' union's volunteering scheme|, or our Square Mile project|. Volunteering looks great on your CV, and is incredibly rewarding.
Have you considered studying abroad? Learn a language, broaden your experiences, and see what it's like to live in a different culture. Our Erasmus| scheme allows you to study for a year at a university in Europe.
We have a number of initiatives which will improve your employability. The Creative Thinking Awards| reward innovative and original ideas with a £10,00 prize, Campus Enterprise Opportunities help make starting your own business even easier, and thanks to our careers team, you can start planning now.
