Creative thinking at DMU 

If you’re a De Montfort University (DMU) student or alumnus and fancy yourself as an innovator, full of creative flair and original ideas, this competition is for you.

With a top prize of up to £10,000, it’s a competition worth thinking about, find out why by reading about our winners from 2011| and 2010|.

2012 Competition

DMU students and alumni are celebrated for creativity. Our graduates include world-renowned architects, internationally famous fashion designers and landmark computer programmers.

This competition is designed to encourage the next generation of DMU students to achieve great things for creative thinking. 

What are the Creative Thinking Awards? 

Sponsored by Toby Moores|, who works closely with the Institute of Creative Technologies, the Creative Thinking Awards recognise exceptional levels of creative, original and inventive thinking. 

Entry criteria

 
  • The award is open to all students and all alumnus
  • There is no set qualifying piece of course work or grade that must be met
  • It can be any piece of work, or idea deemed suitable by tutors and the faculty, not necessarily connected with coursework
  • The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2012
     

What are the prizes?

 
  • All or part of £10,000
  • A certificate for 'Highly Commended' entries
     

Why should I enter?

This competition is a catalyst for identifying new products and opportunities existing in the gaps between academia and industry. It can give students a project focus and provide a good talking point for your CV.

How do I enter?

 
  • To be considered for the Creative Thinking Awards, students should talk to your project tutor or mentor. Alumni should provide a 300 word summary of their project along with any supporting information such as diagrams, images and recordings and send to the Alumni team
  • Each faculty can submit a maximum of eight entries
  • Each faculty has a Creative Thinking champion that you can talk to about your submission; Art Design and Humanities, Tina Barnes Powell, Business and Law, Alison Bragg, Health and Life Sciences, Kathie Moore, Technology, John Gow
  • If you are selected, you must provide a 300 word summary of your project along with any supporting information such as diagrams, images and recordings

Who chooses the winner?

A panel of senior academics, recognised leaders from creative industries and Creative Thinking Awards founder Toby Moores| will choose the winners.
