How much money will I need?

Before you arrive in the UK it's important to have sufficient funding in place for the duration of your course, and you'll need to plan your finances carefully. There's more information here| about budgeting and about the cost of living in the UK.

As a new international student, you'll probably want to open a bank account once you you've arrived.  It's important to remember that you will usually need to have enrolled on your course before you can open a bank account and it's a good idea to keep this mind when you plan for your first few weeks in the UK. Find out more here |about what you'll need to open a bank account.

Healthcare

There is a Student Health Centre next to the campus that provides healthcare for students at DMU and their families. If your course lasts for 6 months or more, you should be able to register as a patient and we recommend doing this as soon as you have registered on your course. You can find more information about this here|.

Do I need to register with the police?

Students from certain countries may need to register their visas after they've arrived in the UK. We can advise you on this process - find out more about this here|.

Life on campus

Although you've come to DMU to study, it's important to find time to rest, relax and make friends too. Read more about some of the social and leisure opportunities |at DMU.
