Black History Season presents: Dr Christopher Roy Zembe

Hugh Aston Building

This lecture will explore the influence of historical variables within the Zimbabwean Black community in Britain and illustrate why African Diasporas should not be understood as a monolithic community with shared or similar historical experiences.

Thurnby Lodge Square Mile Launch Event

Thurnby Rangers FC, Dakyn Road

Come and celebrate the launch of the new Square Mile in Thurnby Lodge! The event consists of fun and educational activities for children, taster sessions of projects, a children’s football match followed by the DMUVC XI v Thurnby Rangers FC. There will also be a BBQ and bar with all proceeds going towards the Thurnby Rangers clubhouse redevelopments.

Black History Season: Dreadlock Story + Q&A

Phoenix Arts Centre

Screening in partnership with DMU for Black History Month. A historical documentary to explore the hidden spiritual links between African and Indian culture in Jamaica.

University Open Day

De Montfort University

Coming to visit us at an open day is the best way to find out about what it's like to be a student at DMU. From taking a tour of the campus, to getting the chance to speak to our lecturers and students, DMU Open Days really do give you the chance to see it all!

Rory Coleman – The Process of Change

The inspiring marathon runner Rory Coleman is here to share his story and experiences. With 1,000 marathons under his belt, this is not one to be missed.

Graduate Recruitment and Placements Fair 2017 

The Venue@DMU

Come and meet graduate and placement recruiters at our annual fair taking place between 11am-3pm. As well as employers, there will be organisations that offer routes into teaching, further education, volunteering and internship opportunities. You can also have your CV reviewed and get general careers advice or coaching.

Black History Season Speed Lecture

An evening of short 20-minute talks featuring four of DMU’s academics, Dr Carlton Howson, Professor Rusi Jaspal, Professor Bertha Ochieng and Dr Perry Stanislas.

Tuesday 31 October

Black History Season: Step + Live Performance

Phoenix Arts Centre

Screening in partnership with DMU for Black History Month, an uplifting documentary about a girls’ high school step dance team.
