As part of DMU's commitment to student employability, we are providing all eligible students with a £100 #DMUworks Employability Award to help towards the cost of securing employment.
#DMUworks is our ambitious and game-changing plan to rethink work placements and work experience. The new initiative will be launched in January, so keep a look out for more info coming soon.
The award is part of a range of measures the university is taking in line with our commitment to improving student experience and enhance student employability.
Students will receive the financial assistance in January.
Other initiatives already helping DMU students maximise their career opportunities include a Unitemps agency on campus, an employability mentoring scheme and an online portal for career planning and job hunting. We also offer a Travel Bursary to travel to job/internship/placement/further study interviews and/or assessments and employer events such as fairs or open days.
DMU is committed to listening to student feedback and making positive changes. The #DMUworks Employability Award is included in our #loveDMU campaign, click here to find out more.
Mike Mayes, Vice-President Media and Communications at De Montfort Students' Union, said: “Students are under a lot of financial pressure and for some even getting to a job interview or affording a suit for an interview can be a struggle. Around this time of year our soon-to-be graduates start looking out into the wider world and considering their careers. It’s great that DMU support our students by providing them with some help at such a crucial time of year to ensure they’re in the best possible position when beginning to look for work.”
