Collection point set up at DMU to help the homeless this winter

DMU students have set up a collection point in the Hawthorn Building where people can donate items for the Action Homeless Leicester Winter Appeal.

Suitable donations include non-perishable food (such as pasta, rice and tinned goods), warm clothing, toiletries and gifts for people in need this Christmas.

Following a successful campus collection organised by DMU Psychology Society students in December 2016, this year the appeal is being overseen by students from a number of DMU societies and clubs, including the Psychology Society, Labour Students Society, Demon Canoe Club, DMU Street Law and the DMU Bollywood Society.

The appeal runs until Tuesday 19 December – look for the decorated Christmas box in the Information Reception area of the Hawthorn Building (Lower Ground Floor).

Action Homeless offers support to people and families affected by homelessness. The charity recently worked with DMU volunteers to conduct a street survey to research the number of homeless people in Leicester.
