5/4/2013 Could you please tell me if DMU recommend a specific laptop to students Firstly, congratulations, we look forward to welcoming you in September!I don’t believe there are any recommended laptops. However, you may want to get in touch with the Students’ Union tech shop|. They mostly do repairs, but may be able to advise you further.
30/3/2013 I received an email in January about student finance. The last time I applied for student finance was before starting university. Do I need to re-apply for student finance for the second year and the third year? Please read the funding web page|.
29/3/2013 I have lost my student card. Is it possible to get into the gym without my id card? If you talk to the people at the desk, they should be able to find you on the system. They may require some other form of ID first.
26/3/2013 Is there any place within the university, such as the library or the bookshop, where i can sell my books that i have already used? The Students’ Union have just launched their marketplace|, where you can sell books and anything else you can think of to other students

20/3/2013 Does DMU offer any clubs in which other languages are taught as well as studying the main degree? There aren’t any DSU Societies where languages are taught that we’re aware of, however there is an International Students’ Cafe| every Wednesday during term time which is one of the DSU’s volunteering projects. It’s student-led and takes place in the lounge at DSU every Wednesday from 2-4pm, it’s a space for international students to come and improve their confidence in their spoken English. 
15/3/2013 Do you run any women-only sessions at the leisure centre? The only women’s session that we currently run at the Queen Elizabeth II Leisure Centre is ladies swim which is on Wednesdays, from 9–10am.There are currently no plans to introduce separate gym sessions.

10/3/2013 I want to know who I can email if I want to find out about dyslexia support in the library? Rather than the library, the best people to talk to are the Student Gateway, who provide lots of dyslexia support. Just pop into their office in the Gateway Building, or you can also talk to your faculty disability co-ordinator| (who also support people with dyslexia)

The library run study support workshops through their CLaSS service|, just go and ask them about it, you can also drop into the Student Gateway to find out more . You faculty should have a disability co-ordinator who can also help you out.

Where can I go to get help with completing an application form for work? I am a BAL student.

The Business and Law advice centre, has a drop in every Thursays between 12noon and 2pm in Hugh Aston 0.73 (no need to book, just drop in) or pop into the Student Gateway| in Gateway House who have a dedicated team of people who will be able to help you.

Is there a post office service at the DMU?

There is a post box near Hugh Aston and the book shop sells stamps however these are the only 'post office' services on campus.

22/01/2013 If I receive the Access to Learning Fund will I have to pay it back? The Access to Learning Fund is a grant based on your personal circumstances and you will not have to pay it back.

The May exam schedule will be released in March and will be added to MyDMU.

I am currently on a placement year due to finish my degree in 2014. Will the degree classification changes affect me?

Yes, the new regulations will apply to all honours degree students.  Because you were undertaking level 5 study last year (which counts towards your degree), you will get the best outcome from the original regulations and the 2011/12 and 2012/13 changes, so if there is any impact at all, it will be a positive one

I completed my foundation degree and passed with a merit, I am now topping up at dmu, does the degree classifcation apply to those of us doing top ups?

Normally where a student is undertaking a top-up for a foundation degree, degree classification is based upon the best 105 level 6 credits.  However it is best to double-check with the Student Advice Centre or Faculty Head of Studies, Dr Elaine Woodland, how your degree will be classified

I'm thinking of doing the Mpharm course in 2014. I was wondering whether its possible to do Pharmacy without A level or As level biology?

For Pharmacy you need A Level Chemistry and a second science A Level, which can either be Biology, Maths or Physics.

Who do I speak to about the Access to Learning Fund?

1/10/12 Is the main car park available on Saturdays to students? Depending on events, students can use the main car park. You must bring your ID card to be let in.
01/10/2012 I am about to start my first year and I am having second thoughts about my course, when is the deadline for changing course?

You will need to talk to your faculty admissions| office. They will be able to advise you.

25/09/2012 I do not know how to log into the student system using my p number. Pop into the library and speak to them as there’ll be able to go through the default password with you and help you log on.
20/09/2012 How do I renew my student ID? You can get a new card from the Student Gateway in Gateway House.

When can I get my timetable for the second year?

You will receive your academic timetable when you enrol during your first week back at DMU

18/6/2012 How can I get my DMU email on my mobile phone?

DMU email is provided by Google, so follow the same process as adding a Gmail account.
