Salary Scales (academic and professional services)
Most staff salaries are aligned with the University's Single Salary Pay Spine. The pay award is nationally negotiated and is usually applied to the scales on the 1 August each year; however, dates can vary depending on national and local agreements.
Staff on the single spine are also given annual increments, which take effect from March for professional services and September for academic staff (until they reach the top of their grade). The first increment for new starters depends on their start date.
Salary Scales (senior staff)
Senior staff pay is performance-related and is reviewed annually each year (depending on start date). For more details about the process and potential bonuses, please see further details in the people management handbook.
The university has a generous holiday package which ranges from 20-35 days dependent on grade and occupational group. On top of this, there are approximately eight Bank Holidays and five additional statutory and concessionary days each year, which includes the period between Christmas and New Year when the university is closed.
