The University is required to submit an annual staff return to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) on the staff we employ at De Montfort University. From 2012/13 HESA has extended the scope of its staff return to include a number of additional personal fields (which (to ensure that the HE Sector meets its obligations under the Equality Act 2010) and academic teaching qualifications for academic staff.) Each year the information returned to HESA is available to its statutory customers (such as the Government) and external agencies and league tables for publication and analysis. It should be emphasized that any information returned to HESA about you is returned anonymously using a unique identifier and therefore remains confidential.
Details for the Equality and Academic Teaching Qualifications surveys will be recorded against an individual on the University’s Human Resources system (PSe). Access to the system is controlled and access to sensitive personal information is restricted to a limited range of users, mainly in HR, for processing or monitoring purposes.
In particular, please can we encourage all staff to disclose both, their sexual orientation and religious, belief or none. Whilst these characteristics are particularly important for HESA, as we have low levels of disclosure, it is also for monitoring purposes. We encourage all staff and students to disclose their sexual orientation. Data is held confidentially and we rely on this to inform our action plans, levels of investment and the services that the university provides for its staff, students and communities.
