Key changes to the Recruitment and selection policy include:

• The principles of equality and diversity are enshrined throughout the policy with equality and diversity training a mandatory requirement for all DMU recruiters.

• The principles of equality and diversity are enshrined throughout the policy with equality and diversity training a mandatory requirement for all DMU recruiters.

• Mandatory training on the policy for all DMU recruiters and additional separate briefings for new recruiting managers and/or panel Chairs

• Guidance on panel compositions.

• More emphasis on the pre-recruitment stages.

• A new approach to writing person specifications.

• A greater focus on the use of selection tests to be used alongside a structured panel interview.

• Linked guidance documents on all aspect of the policy, to help managers construct rigorous, fair and appropriate recruitment and selection processes, and fully understand their role in applying the policy. New guidance is included on:

- ‘Immigration and Preventing Illegal Working’

 

Training Information

New policy briefing sessions – to understand the changes brought by the new policy, all those previously trained in recruitment and selection must attend a new policy briefing session. If you have not yet attended a briefing session, please contact the HR adviser for your work area.

Training for recruiting managers and panel chairs - An additional briefing session is available for recruiting managers and panel chairs to fully understand their particular responsibilities in upholding the policy. This will be mandatory for new recruiting managers and panel chairs. Two part sessions will be offered and staff may attend either or both parts of the session according to need.

Core recruitment and selection training - The existing recruitment and selection course has been redesigned to reflect the new policy, this will be a mandatory training requirement for all those responsible for making selection decisions.
