Today almost 600 DMU staff received their individual training schedules for the Core Systems Modernisation (CSM) programme.
Staff will be trained via a series of classroom and/or eLearning modules depending on the level of interaction they will have with our new SAP system.
Before attending any classroom session or being granted access to the system, all users will need to complete and pass the SAP Business Client Navigation eLearning module, which teaches access and general navigations through SAP.
Classroom training is focussed predominately on finance and procurement based subject areas such as General Accounting, Taxation Accounting, Accounts payable and Purchasing Order Management. The eLearning modules will cover transactional processes such as general navigation, reporting and requisition management. Each eLearning module will be split into bite-sized chunks of no more than 10 minutes so users can fit the training around their busy work schedules.
All training will be supported by a comprehensive set of user guides and drop-in sessions, where all users will have the opportunity to benefit from some face-to-face practice. Once SAP access has been granted to users they will have access to the training environment where they can practice using the system before go-live.
CSM is the university’s biggest ever change programme and will see our core IT systems for finance, procurement, people, payroll and student lifecycle management being replaced with a system called SAP. Release 1 (predominately Finance and Procurement) will go-live in exactly 8 weeks (29 July).
