Celebrating Women in Jazz with NYJO
The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) is a glittering showcase for the UK’s finest young professional jazz musicians, combining a hard-swinging rhythm section and hugely talented soloists. NYJO will be bringing the very best in British big-band jazz to DMU!
For this special concert, we'll be celebrating women in jazz; from the songs of Ella Fitzgerald and the 1930s trumpet stylings of Valaida Snow, to contemporary classics by band leader Maria Schneider and bassist Esperanza Spalding. We are excited to highlight the great music of jazz musicians who happen to be female!
Join the gig and get your £5.00 tickets (DMU students and staff only) now via Leicester Jazz House!
Are you up for the DMU Summer Concert Challenge?
We're calling all singers and musicians to join our 2018 Summer Concert Challenge! The DMU Orchestra and DMU Chorus will team up once again this spring to perform an epic Summer Concert on Sunday June 10th.
We warmly invite all DMU students and staff members as well as local singers to join the Chorus in singing DMU's Graduation Anthem 'Zadok the Priest' by Handel and the monumental 'I was Glad' by Hubert Parry.
Musicians are invited to join our Orchestra with a programme of Handel's 'Zadok the Priest', Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and the premiere of a new work by DMU student Ashley Simons.
