Students snapped up for DMU campaign

De Montfort University (DMU)’s students and graduates are featuring in the new advertising campaign, which will be seen across the country.

Having chosen students to star in the latest TV advert a number of DMU students were also selected to feature in the associated advertising campaign.

New adverts will appear on bus stops, telephone boxes and train stations, and there will also be online banners and print adverts to promote the university and specific faculties and courses.

Students were photographed by Pip, a London-based photographer whose portraits have featured Sir Ian McKellen and Richard E Grant, as well as talents like Bryan Ferry, Helen McCrory, Anthony Joshua and Ellie Goulding.

His previous work has included campaigns for Topman, Channel 4, NASA, Ministry of Sound and British GQ and he has also worked on national and international commissions and a range of commercial projects for record labels.

The images are confident and convey the ‘Dare to Do’ message of the TV advert on a fresh platform through bold and heroic shots.

The shots feature Luke Taylor, Wes Bingwa and Jessica Okoro, who each star in the 30-second TV advert that recently launched.

The campaign also includes images of Marcus Dove, who features in the 60-second advert which is available on our website, as well as Elissa Grainger and Reema Valands who were also involved in the filming.

Elissa said: “It’s always good to give back to DMU. I graduated last year and I’ve had a lot of help from them since graduating so it’s really nice to still be involved.”

“I think it’s nice to have a student body behind it supporting it and it’s a good way to promote DMU.”

Promotional material will be released in phases throughout the campaign with the first phase featuring the iconic image of dancer Wes Bingwa on the top of DMU’s Gateway House at sunset.

There will be extra images as part of the campaign which will promote specific faculties and courses with a tailored ‘Dare to Do’ message.
