As the teaching year for 2018/19 is well underway, we want to remind students to regularly change their DMU account password.

Information technology security is an important aspect of enjoying your time at DMU and we want to ensure that students are protected against cybercrime and can access our IT services safely and securely.

Changing your password is easy. Just go to the password self-service system at https://password.dmu.ac.uk.

Here you can change your password and also create security questions, which are used to reset forgotten passwords. For more help on how to change your password and set up your security questions, see our step-by-step guide here.

What makes a strong password?

  • It should be at least eight characters long, and preferably more (up to a maximum of 32 characters)
  • Use a mixture of lower-case and upper-case letters
  • Contain at least one number
  • Contain at least one special character, such as @, !, $, &, %

Once you change your password, please make sure you do not tell anyone or write the password down. This will help to keep your DMU IT account safe and secure.
