DMU business experts prepare host of free events for Leicester Business Festival

Business experts at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) are preparing a packed programme of events for the 2017 Leicester Business Festival.

DMU’s Leicester Castle Business School is headline partner of the festival, which is the region’s largest event of its kind, developed by business for business.

It aims to drive economic growth by showcasing the region’s expertise and enabling businesses to make new connections during two weeks beginning October 23.

Today, as this year's programme is officially launched, DMU is proud to be hosting 14 events at this year’s festival, which focus on giving practical support to companies looking to grow their business, start-ups seeking inspiration and advice and demonstrating how to use academic expertise to find new ways of connecting with customers and audiences.

Professor Dana Brown, Principal of Leicester Castle Business School of Pro Vice-Chancellor Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, said: “It is going to be a very exciting fortnight and we are delighted to be at the forefront as headline sponsor.

“Through the Business Festival we are eager to show that Leicester Castle Business School is an integral part of the business community as well as a key resource for the businesses in the region.”

New to the festival this year is a conference celebrating women in business run by the ‘Woman Who’ network in conjunction with the Federation of Small Businesses. The conference will aim to inspire women to have the confidence to start or grow their businesses.

Along with Leicester Castle Business School as headline partner, the festival also has the support of well-known business organisations including East Midlands Chamber, LLEP Business Gateway, the Federation of Small Businesses, Highcross Leicester, Brewin Dolphin, Leicester Racecourse and IBM.

Other supporters include East Midlands Trains, Institute of Directors, De Montfort University, Leicester University and media partners, Capital FM, Global Radio and the Leicester Mercury.
