People and Organisational Development DirectorateThe HR leadership team comprises the Director of HR and two Deputies who are responsible for professional services, reward, policy and employee relations, as well as strategy development and complex case work. The Director of HR is a member of the Vice-Chancellor Group and other senior management forums and has responsibility for Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing; the Academic Professional Development Unit and the Training and Development Unit. De Montfort University’s HR Department is structured to enable a customer focussed and responsive service to the academic Faculties and support Directorates within the University. Each Faculty and Directorate has a minimum of two key contacts within HR who regularly support their areas. The Operational HR team comprises a professional advisory team incorporating HR Advisers and HR Officers. HR Advisers operate as "Business Partners" working closely with managers as members of Faculty Executive Teams. They also provide HR support to the various Directorates within the University and are supported by HR Officers who act as the main point of contact for these areas. The Advisers and Officers provide support on the full range of HR issues including recruitment and selection, case work, change management, pay and grading and employee relations; they are also responsible for policy development and review. The Advisers and Officers provide the main link to other HR services including training and development and administrative support. The advisory team is supported by the Services Team and the Information Team. The Services Team assists and administers recruitment and selection processes, contractual changes, etc., and provides guidance and support in relation to day-to-day HR issues and processes including maternity leave, Criminal Record Bureau checking, advertising and work permits (Points based system for migrant workers). Each Faculty and Directorate has an HR Adviser and/or Officer and a Senior HR Assistant or HR Assistant. The Information Team maintains and develops HR information systems, in particular the HR database, to ensure that it meets our changing requirements and provides accurate, robust and timely data and management information. The team responds to requests for data from our funding bodies and various other bodies and supports managers in accessing HR data reports. They also support the development and maintenance of the HR intranet site. The University has a comprehensive HR intranet site which contains the HR policies, procedures and guidelines as well as standard University HR forms/templates and information.
