Notice for the supply of Thermal Imaging equipment to support research and teaching activities of the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development at De Montfort UniversityTender Ref: 432The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) is an independent research group within De Montfort University. Amongst its areas of research, the Institute is involved in the design and evaluation of energy efficient buildings by means of computer simulation and building monitoring programmes. In order to compare the actual performance of buildings with the performance predicted by computer simulation, researchers wish to develop techniques to study temperature distribution throughout the structure of a building and sources of heat within a building, such as the buildings occupants. Thermal Imaging provides a way to quickly gather this information. In addition to its research activities, the Institute also teaches two masters courses; Climate Change and Sustainable Development and Energy Efficient Building Design. It is expected that Thermal Imaging will be incorporated into the teaching programme. The Thermal Imaging equipment is to be provided on or before 31st January 2008. The award criteria for this procurement will be conformance to specification, capability to supply, maintain and calibrate the equipment and the estimated whole-life cost of the equipment, both hardware and software. Demonstration of proposed equipment may be required as part of the evaluation process. Particular regard will be given to the ability to control the fixed cameras with in-house written software.
