Nursing BSc (Hons) Scholarships

De Montfort University is proud to inform you of an exciting development which announces the launch of a new scholarship, designed to support students on the Nursing with Registration (Mental Health Nursing) BSc (Hons)  or Nursing with Registration (Learning Disability Nursing) BSc (Hons)  programmes.

Based on a record of academic achievements demonstrated through your previous studies and future successes at DMU, we will be offering eligible students a generous scholarship of up to £3,000 throughout the duration of the course. Designed to provide financial support to students, this offer corresponds with our dedication to recognise and reward exceptional students throughout their time at DMU, beginning with the acknowledgement of our applicants academic achievements thus far.

Benefit from:

£1,000 per year, offered if you are able to meet the following requirements:

  • 128 UCAS points achieved from a minimum of 2 A-Levels (excluding General Studies, key skills and music exams) or equivalent*

  • 5 GCSEs with a minimum of 3 Bs to include Maths, English and Science

  • As part of your application of the scholarship, you will be asked to write a personal reflection. Students need to have the ability to write to a high standard (Level 4), and will need to include a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a nurse, specific to their field of practice, and how they have/will continue to enhance the programme and profession. Students must achieve 70 per cent on this criteria

  • 70 per cent achieved grade at the end of each academic year, and evidence of added value (e.g. such as being a student rep, or participating in the Square Mile initiative)

*EU based qualifications will be assessed and considered on a case by case basis.

This scholarship has been created by DMU in response to the decisions made by the Government in the 2015 Spending Review, which informed us that from 1 August 2017, all new nursing, midwifery and allied health professional students will receive their funding and financial support through student loans rather than through the current NHS bursary scheme.

How to apply

As part of the admissions process you will be notified of your eligibility of the scholarship and informed of the details on how to apply.
