WR Evans Bursary

We are delighted to be able to offer Pharmacy students, who have made a commitment to studying Pharmacy at De Montfort University, the chance to apply for the WR Evans Bursary. This bursary is available for two first year, full-time undergraduate students to apply for, and the successful students will be awarded £2,500 for their first year of study in 2015/16.

Ann Evans is an alumna of the Leicester School of Pharmacy, who with her husband Bill (also an alumnus), founded and runs the Midlands Manor Pharmacy chain. Ann has made a generous donation in memory of her husband to support a special bursary for pharmacy students.

The bursary will be awarded to students who are of British Nationality and who are a resident in the UK. It is restricted to those who reside outside of the county of Leicestershire, and is restricted to students who made a commitment to studying Pharmacy at DMU.

Application process

To apply for the bursary, students must submit;

  • A completed application form. This form includes a statement outlining why they believe they are a good candidate for the award
  • A copy of their passport

The closing date for applications by the end of the day Monday 2 November 2015 and students who are short listed will be invited to an interview.

Terms and conditions

  • Two bursaries of £2,500 each are available for two full-time undergraduate students for their first year of study only
  • The bursary is only applicable for students who have applied and put Pharmacy MPharm with Honours (B230) at DMU as their 'firm' choice during the UCAS application cycle (excluding students who initally chose DMU as their 'insurance' choice, or those who came through clearing) and who have had their place on the course confirmed by DMU
  • Eligible applicants must have British nationality, with residency in the UK, but who reside outside the county of Leicestershire
  • Applicants for the bursary are required to attend an interview as part of the selection process
  • Successful applicants of the WR Evans Bursary may also be eligible for other Scholarships or Awards
  • This bursary is awarded as a cash award for the first year of study only and it cannot be transferred to any other course at DMU or to any other nominated recipient
  • Valid only for 2015 entry – scholarships or bursaries cannot be deferred with an application until September 2016 or later
  • Scholarships or bursaries will be forfeited if the successful applicant subsequently withdraws their course application or does not enrol for any reason
  •  The University reserves the right to withdraw or not allocate scholarships or bursaries at any point before they are allocated.
