Leicester School of Architecture
The Leicester School of Architecture (LSA) was established in 1897, as part of an Arts College with Architecture taught alongside other building related crafts and trades. By 1927, the LSA had a formally ratified Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) accredited course formulating the architectural discourse throughout the UK.
Today, the LSA is a contemporary design school offering the full spectrum of architectural education. The school has a high national and international standing, gained from successes in design competitions, work placements, teaching and learning developments, research, and extensive links overseas. We have particular interests in sustainable architecture, urban regeneration, and the role of clients and users in cross-disciplinary design education.
Located at the centre of DMU’s main campus the LSA continues to play a pivotal role in the Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities. Its recent strength in the PolyARCH programme and as the winner of the International TECU Prize is a growing indication that the school is developing students with the necessary skills and ability to deliver sophisticated design projects rooted in LSA’s technical tradition.
