Senior Lecturer Andy Plaice’s latest piece for the British Comedy Guide was an in-depth look at Jasper Carrott, who made a rare public appearance at DMU.
“Mr Carrott – not his real name, you’ll be disappointed to hear – is a fascinating person as well as a very accomplished comedian,” said Andy.
The Brummie funnyman was talking about his career to a 200-strong audience as part of the university’s annual Cultural Exchanges Week, which provides a platform for a range of speakers from inside and outside DMU.
Andy is now becoming a regular contributor to the British Comedy Guide, which goes from strength-to-strength and is by far the UK’s biggest comedy website with more than half a million visitors per month and 34,000 followers on Twitter.
A new Arts and Entertainment Journalism module is being launched as part of the BA Journalism degree by Andy next year using his extensive experience and knowledge of the critic’s world.
