Course: LLB Law
I chose DMU because of the focus on work based learning and its good reputation.
My favourite feature of the course is the interaction with tutors during tutorials and seminars because the class sizes are small. This ensures I get enough help and advice should I require it, and the staff are understanding and do not hesitate to point me in the right direction for further reading.
DMU is really enabling me to feel workplace ready and giving me the skills needed for a graduate job. In applying for a placement the Work Based Learning Unit offered their time to help me with interview skills as well as crafting my CV to look appropriate.
The facilities in the Hugh Aston building are excellent; there are plenty of computer suites, study areas especially with the law library, as well as the cafe which is ideal when I am working all day.
My greatest achievement at DMU has been getting four awards, along with obtaining a first in my second year and securing a placement
I would definitely recommend my course to others, as you have so much opportunity to get further help. The guidance for tutorial questions and revision is really helpful too while still reinforcing us to be independent.
I did a 12 month placement at O2 (Telefonica) as a HR Operations Intern. My placement entailed various responsibilities such as optimising the leavers’ process, managing a people forum, helping with team plans and more. I felt like all my skills had been developed and surprisingly I enjoyed the working world. I grew so much in confidence, in organisation skills, and saw the real benefit of undertaking a degree.
