Law professor gives evidence to the House of Lords


EXPERT: Professor Estella Baker

The House of Lords called on the expertise of De Montfort University’s Professor Estella Baker when gathering evidence for its new inquiry.

The Home Affairs, Health and Education EU Sub-Committee met on Wednesday, November 27 to hear oral evidence as it examines the EU’s next five-year agenda for EU justice and home affairs activity.

Prof Baker, who is Professor of Criminal Law and Justice at De Montfort Law School, is an expert on sentencing law in the European Union and member of the European Commission’s expert panel on EU Criminal Policy.

She was at the Palace of Westminster to give her views alongside Mike Kennedy CBE, former chief operating office of the Crown Prosecution Service and Sarah Garvey, member of the EU Committee at the Law Society of England and Wales.
