SLSA Conference April 3-5th 2012
Leicester De Montfort Law School is delighted to be hosting the Socio-Legal Studies Association 2012 conference. Over the past 21 years, the annual SLSA conference has expanded to become one of the most prestigious international events in socio-legal studies. Last year’s conference at the University of Sussex attracted 350 delegates from around 22 different countries. Delegates came from a variety of backgrounds: academic law; social science disciplines; criminology; and policy makers. The conference prides itself on welcoming delegates and speakers at all stages of their professional career, from early career researchers through to the most eminent scholars in their field. Many enduring scholarly connections have been established at the SLSA conference over the years.
SLSA 2012 will take place in the new £35 million Hugh Aston building, home to the Faculty of Business & Law. This state-of-the-art building was recently rated as ‘excellent’ for energy efficiency by the Building Research Establishment. The Hugh Aston building is only a short walk from Leicester train station. The nearest airport is East Midlands which has a bus service to the city of Leicester.
Leicester has much to offer the visitor including the new theatre, Curve, the Highcross shopping centre, and a wide variety of restaurants and museums. The National Space Centre is the UK's only space science and astronomy attraction. For more information about the city see: http://www.goleicestershire.com/
