Law School head to lead influential national body

CHAIRMAN: Sheree Peaple

The head of Leicester De Montfort Law School is to take over as chair of a leading UK body representing legal education.

Sheree Peaple will take on the new role with CHULS – the Committee of Heads of University Law Schools - from 1 July.

The committee is made up of the heads of every university law school and department in the UK.

It focuses on issues of concerns including the development of policies that could have an impact on legal education and lobbies on behalf of law schools. CHULS also co-ordinates responses to official papers and promotes best management practice in law schools.

Mrs Peaple took over as secretary/treasurer of CHULS last summer, and was asked by the executive committee to take over as chair.

She said: “I am very honoured to have been elected to take on this role.”

Before joining De Montfort University, Mrs Peaple specialised in conveyancing and probate in private practice, for a regional health authority and a major bank. She is a councillor in Tamworth and is chair of the board of directors for the Saffron Young People’s Project.
