David Wilson, Dean of Business and Law, and Deputy-Vice Chancellor of De Montfort University has had his classic book Local Government in the United Kingdom translated into Chinese for the first time. Peking University Press has released the first official version of the classic text translated into Chinese to acclaim. The book, approaching its twentieth anniversary since first publication in the UK has become the classic textbook on the subject of local government. The latest edition focuses on local government in the devolved regions and provides an extensive analysis of central-local government relations and examines the future of local government under the coalition government. Reviews of the previous edition were highly positive in recommending the text and it has become essential reading for students, practitioners and anyone with an interest in local government. The translated version has become very popular in China and later this year, Professor Wilson will be travelling to China to deliver a guest lecture on the topic of government at Nanjing University.
