NHS Education for Scotland (NES) helps to provide better patient care by providing targeted, effective, educational solutions for workforce development. NES sought a postgraduate programme for delivery to managers across Scotland in a way which would encourage group networking and support – without extensive face-to-face delivery or the time and cost implications of traditional campus-based learning.
Through a series of collaborative workshops, NHSScotland’s ‘Delivery through Leadership’ strategy was mapped and a programme designed to meet NHSScotlands’ leadership priorities. The delivery strategy addressed the challenges of delivering across a wide geographic area in the Highlands and Islands to large student numbers.
Through flexible, blended learning, over 350 health sector professionals were trained over a two year period. The programme is adaptable to emerging health service legislation and management theory thus ensuring a highly relevant, future proof intervention which can be delivered remotely. It has also been fully recognised and accredited by the CMI. Giving graduates the benefit of Associate Membership of the CMI upon completion.
